Kāpiti Coast: Nov 22nd 6pm - 2pm

Four seasons of bushcraft

This is your chance to step away from the busyness of modern life and technology and come in to deeper connection and slowing down with ancestral skills. Join us one weekend a season for this wonderfully connective journey.

  • SPRING - is about bird language, listening to the concentric rings of nature. (22-24 November)
  • SUMMER - takes us bush with natural shelters
  • AUTUMN - brings alive a whole new world of tracking. Reading the stories left on the earth.
  • WINTER - build a relationship with fire skills and the way they can support us.

BIRD LANGUAGE

This is not about naming the birds, though this will come. It is about the expanding of our awareness out into the sounds that are all around us every day.

The birds are a watchful bunch and if we tune in to their telling of the story of daily life we can learn so much about the world around us.

I have found this knowledge and this listening to give me another dimension of seeing life around me. The world has become much more vibrant and telling.

And it's not just the sounds they make, it's the shapes they make, and the sounds they don't make, and it ties us to everything, to the trees and plants and animals and to ourselves. Like a mirror informs us of our image, the birds inform us of our being and our feelings.

That's a lot to lay on a little bird but I think it's part of their original instructions.
