Hutt Valley: Oct 5th 9am - 12pm
KÅanga has arrived and one thing we are looking forward to at Common Unity in Te Awa Kairangi ki tai (Lower Hutt) is hosting workshops on common edible and medicinal weeds!
This is a 3-part, hands-on workshop series which will delve into the existence and use of 12 commonly found weeds. Each workshop will cover 4 weeds in depth and will include opportunities to sip, munch, and lather on various homemade weedy products. All products have been used and consumed, and are highly rated by our facilitators (who are merely weed-loving gardeners, not herbalists!).
At the end of every workshop, all participants can take home with a colourful, home-made Wonder Weeds reference guide (which includes all 12 weeds featured across the 3 workshops).
Each workshop costs $50. This fee covers a koha for our facilitators, the products they've made, and supports the continuation of free community gardening education sessions hosted by Common Unity.
We understand that cost can be a barrier, and we don't want anyone to miss out. If the price is a concern for you, please reach out to us. For those who are in a position to contribute more, we also offer a "pay-it-forward" option to sponsor a ticket for someone else.
Each workshop will be held on a Saturday for approximately 3 hours, running from 9am-12pm and will include a break part way through. The first workshop (28 September) will be held at Pito-one (Petone) Depot (8/193 Jackson Street, Petone, Lower Hutt 5012). The 2nd (5 October) and 3rd (12 October) workshops will be held at the ReMakery (310 Waiwhetu Rd, Fairfield, Lower Hutt 5011).
Spots are limited so it is imperative that you pay upon registering so that your spot is secured. We will email you once you have paid to confirm your spot. Registration form can be found here: https://forms.gle/77k5hHSadKBVPfxH9
