Kāpiti Coast: Jun 15th 10:00 am - 2:00 pm

This is a Toru Trail Event, find out more about our Toru Trail events here.

Join us a Peter Davis and Jenny Potaka's place, Trinity Farm: It is a certified organic property, 4 ha, with a mix of old and new orchards, a charitable market garden Crooked Vege , domestic vege gardens and heritage rose nursery and rose gardens.

Peter will give an introduction to the property including its history and hopes. We then walk around the property to witness the replanting, the Crooked Vege market garden, the old and new orchards and rose gardens. You will experience a marvellous role model of shared use and inviting community initiative, and get to meet Jonathan Mines the driving force behind that charitable market garden, Crooked Vege.  Naturally, in June, it's not all show and blossom and glory in a garden, but Toru is about experiencing the seasons and all sides of owning a property, the beauty and the 'beasts'. Bring boots and gloves in case there is a small project that we can all pitch in with.

We will then gather around the table for a shared winter lunch. The hosts will provide some roasted winter vegetable and bread, and as always in a Toru Trail, you are invited to bring something to share, from your garden or home made, or whatever, but only if easy and enjoyable, not essential. After lunch, we reflect on what we have seen and experienced through the lens of the permaculture approach, its ethics and principles.

What can we expect to learn? That there is always more to do !!
